Ito Kyuemon: This historic tea shop in Uji has been producing premium tea since 1832. Its flagship cafe offers luxurious Uji kintoki topped with house-made matcha syrup.? The idea is said to have originated when local newspaper correspondents stationed here in the 1950s were cooling off during summer fieldwork by eating freshly boiled noodles that had been chilled in the cold river water.
